In 2021, Kristen Clarke, the head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, was asked by a U.S. senator if she had ever been arrested or accused of committing a violent crime, to which she answered no under penalty of perjury. However, it was later revealed that she had been arrested for attacking her then-husband with a knife during a domestic altercation in July 2006.
Court records showed that a criminal case was initiated against Clarke in the District Court of Maryland, but the charge was dismissed without trial, and the record was eventually expunged. Despite this, the fact remains that she was arrested and accused of committing a violent crime, which she denied under oath.
Regarding the incident, Clarke claimed she was a victim of abuse and chose not to disclose the expunged arrest record during her Senate confirmation process. The media, particularly CNN, portrayed her as a victim of domestic abuse, deflecting from the perjury she committed.
While Clarke’s allegations against her ex-husband have not been confirmed and he has denied them, the corporate media continues to protect her due to her identity as a black, female Democrat. The media’s willingness to overlook her perjury raises questions about their trustworthiness in reporting the truth.
