Google has released its dedicated AI mobile app, Gemini, in India, featuring support for nine Indian languages in addition to English. The app, which debuted in the US in February, allows users to type or talk in their preferred language to receive AI assistance.

The Indian version of Gemini supports nine languages: Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Users can download the app on Google Play Store and set it as their default AI assistant in the Google Assistant app. In the coming weeks, iPhone users in India will also be able to access Gemini through the Google app.

Gemini is powered by Gemini 1.0 Pro by default, but offers a paid option to upgrade to Gemini Advanced, which is based on Gemini 1.5 Pro and provides a 1 million token context window for processing and understanding complex information. This advanced experience also supports the nine Indian languages.

The company has announced that some of the Gemini AI assistant’s expanded features, which were showcased at its I/O developer conference in May, will be rolled out to supported devices over the next few months.
