Prices at In-N-Out Burger in California have increased due to the $20 minimum wage, making meals more expensive for families.
A Double-Double with fries and a drink now costs over $10 before tax, according to the Orange County Register.
In April, In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder said she fought to keep prices low despite inflation and the updated minimum wage that took effect on April 1, after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed it in 2023, the New York Post reported.
“I felt an obligation to look out for our customer,” she said.
Meanwhile, Walmart has seen increased sales as more customers buy groceries and skip fast food due to inflation, Truth Voices reported in May.
The report noted:
WALMART SAW A 3.8% RISE IN TRANSACTIONS IN BOTH STORES AND ONLINE THIS PAST QUARTER. IN CONTRAST, MCDONALD’S, STARBUCKS, AND YUM BRANDS HAVE SEEN A DECLINE IN SALES.
Additionally, a Lending Tree survey of 2,000 American adults found that 78 percent now view fast food as a luxury, as inflation affects people nationwide under President Biden’s leadership.
