MTG and Massie Gear Up for Johnson Expulsion Vote Set for ‘Next Week’

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) received the endorsement of House Democrat Leadership on Tuesday. The endorsement will soon be put to the test as Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) announced a plan to force a vote on Greene’s motion to vacate the following week.

Standing outside the Capitol, Greene and Massie accused Johnson of betraying the government on various issues, including funding, surveillance, and Ukraine. This move, while expected, increases the pressure on Johnson to maintain his position as Speaker in the face of growing opposition.

Greene explained her reasons for filing the motion and criticized Johnson for his actions on FISA reauthorization and Ukraine funding. She expressed concern that under Johnson’s leadership, Republicans have failed to deliver on their promises to voters.

During a press conference, Greene attacked Johnson for his support of perpetual wars, mocking the “Make Ukraine Great Again” slogan. Massie defended the motion, rejecting claims that it is futile and insisting on transparency and accountability.

Greene remained optimistic about the outcome of the vote, emphasizing that it would be a victory for the American people regardless of the result. The motion to vacate vote is expected to take place soon, with Johnson likely to bring a vote to table the motion promptly.

Other members, including Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), have joined the effort to challenge Johnson’s leadership. Greene urged fellow Republicans to consider their stance on the motion and be prepared to make tough decisions for the good of the party.

As tensions rise within the Republican ranks, the fate of Speaker Johnson remains uncertain. The upcoming vote will test the strength of his leadership and the unity of the party moving forward.
