The American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) has joined forces with the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine (AHM), the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), and other medical professional groups to denounce genital mutilation surgeries for minors.
This coalition drafted and signed a declaration urging medical practitioners to cease claiming that these harmful procedures benefit children. The statement calls for an immediate halt to the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries for children and adolescents experiencing distress over their biological sex.
These groups have united under the organization Doctors Protecting Children (DPC), which aims to raise awareness about the serious physical and mental health concerns associated with current protocols for children and adolescents in the United States who are uncomfortable with their biological sex.
“Despite evidence that gender-affirming treatments are harmful, and recognizing the immaturity of the adolescent brain, medical organizations in the United States continue to advocate for these interventions,” the DPC statement reads. “Furthermore, they argue that legislation to protect children from these harmful interventions is dangerous, as it interferes with necessary medical care.”
Dr. Erica LeBaron, family medicine physician and president-elect of AAPS, stated, “The current protocols imposed on children and adolescents violate the fundamental principles of Hippocratic medicine, which are to ‘prescribe regimen for the good of patients’ and ‘do no harm.’ It is time for our profession to stop causing harm and instead provide care that is based on science and ethical medical principles, putting patients, not political ideology, first.”
Nicole Hayes from the Christian Medical & Dental Associations added, “Medical decisions should respect biological reality and the dignity of the individual. Anything less is disastrous.”
The DPC’s declaration comes at a crucial moment as polls indicate that a majority of Americans oppose the medical industry’s aggressive attempts to deny biological reality and encourage children to undergo radical procedures.
A 2023 poll by the Washington Post revealed that 68 percent of Americans oppose providing hormonal treatments to children aged 10 to 14. Additionally, more than 20 states have banned so-called “gender-affirming care,” indicating a growing resistance to the transgender agenda across the nation.
While many Americans reject the extreme gender ideologies promoted by the left, the country’s most radical activists continue to push for transgender athletes in female sports, create advertising campaigns featuring gender activists, and produce television shows with storylines that promote the rejection of biological differences between men and women.
The left’s gender ideology is also permeating major institutions, with numerous influential organizations promoting it, particularly targeting children.
Disney, for instance, is widely recognized for incorporating pro-transgender themes in its recent films and television shows.
