Officials have detained two individuals from California for allegedly pilfering numerous LEGO sets valued at thousands of dollars with the intent to resell them.
The Los Angeles Police Department apprehended Richard Siegel, 71, and Blanca Gudino, 39, following a probe into organized retail theft at various stores in the vicinity, according to the Los Angeles Times reported.
The next day, police executed a search warrant, uncovering over 2,800 stolen LEGO boxes, as announced in a press release.Â
“Detectives from LAPD’s commercial crimes division, organized retail theft unit, along with members of the retailer’s loss prevention personnel, aided in the recovery of the LEGO sets,” the department stated.Â
Photos and videos released by the department exhibit officers loading a vast quantity of LEGO merchandise, including sets valued over $1,000.

Although the case is still under investigation, Siegel faces organized retail theft charges, while Gudino has been charged with grand theft, as per the Times report.Â
