Swing States Utilize Tax Dollars to Engage Dem-Friendly Youth Voters

Democratic election officials in Arizona and Nevada are using taxpayer resources to register and mobilize young voters who are favorable towards Democrats in preparation for the 2024 election. Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes recently announced a partnership with the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge to launch the “Arizona Campus Voting Challenge,” aimed at increasing voter engagement among students at accredited universities in the state. This initiative comes in the wake of young voters favoring Democrat House candidates over Republicans by a significant margin during the 2022 midterms.

Participation in the Arizona Campus Voting Challenge is free, allowing colleges to become eligible for awards based on voter turnout and registration rates in the upcoming 2024 election. However, concerns have been raised about the initiative’s nonpartisan claims, as ALL IN is associated with left-wing individuals and organizations, including Civic Nation led by Valerie Jarrett.

Similarly, Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar has established a “Youth Advisory Task Force” to engage young voters ahead of the 2024 election. This trend of using taxpayer dollars to target young voters is also being observed on a national level, with President Joe Biden’s Executive Order 14019 directing federal agencies to support voter registration and get-out-the-vote activities through partnerships with third-party organizations like the ACLU and Demos.

These efforts, combined with voter registration drives by left-wing nonprofits, aim to mobilize young voters to secure key battleground states for Democrats in the upcoming election. With previous elections being decided by slim margins and college students historically supporting Democrats, targeting young voters through campus initiatives appears to be a strategic focus for the Democratic Party in 2024.
