The Washington news media, as predictable as ever, are creating high drama around President Biden’s announcement that he will pretend to take significant action without actually doing so.
For months, the White House has been supplying the media with stories suggesting that Biden is highly committed to addressing the chaotic situation at the Southern border — a situation largely created by his own policies. Now, we are told that something is finally going to happen: an executive order granting Biden authority he had long claimed, incorrectly, he didn’t possess.
New York Times, June 3: “Biden Is Expected to Sign Order Letting Him Seal Border With Mexico.” That’s a very strong claim, despite the fact that Biden will continue to allow tens of thousands of unvetted migrants to enter through the remainder of the year, adding to the estimated 10 million-plus migrants who have entered since he took office.
The Times article indicates that the order will allow Biden to authorize the immediate removal of illegal border crossers seeking asylum (abusing the system), but only after an average of 2,500 per day are admitted. Essentially, this means another million impoverished foreigners will be allowed into the United States by the end of the year under the guise of “sealing the border with Mexico.” Sealed tight, just like Tupperware.
Of course, it’s not guaranteed that the president will limit it to just one million. It remains at his discretion, as it always has, whether he decides to remove any migrants, regardless of the 2,500 cap. As Axios reported, “his approach will include some humanitarian exemptions.”
“Humanitarian exemptions” is often political speak for “impoverished non-whites who may eventually vote for Democrats to maintain their government benefits.” Essentially, that’s almost everyone!
The corporate media are aware of this. They know the border crisis is a major liability for Biden in the upcoming election. There is only one real way to fix it, but that would sacrifice a vital segment of his voter base. This poses a significant problem for Biden and his media supporters. Rather than reporting that his executive order is not a genuine solution, they are helping him to deceive the public.
Biden isn’t fixing the border. He’s fixing his media narrative.
