MUNCIE, Ind. — A man in Indiana allegedly stole a delivery truck full of beer and liquor parked outside a bar in hopes of selling the booze to pay off his drug debts.

The accused thief, identified as Beau Burchel, 39, from Gaston, was found hiding near Meadowview Farms, a mobile home community, after police discovered the stolen vehicle in a nearby field.

Burchel reportedly confessed to stealing the truck to settle his drug debts by selling the alcohol inside. In addition to the stolen truck, a skid steer loader that was reported stolen earlier was found hidden behind the Shriners Club. Burchel admitted to stealing and damaging both vehicles.

The skid steer loader had an estimated value of over $60,000, the box truck was valued at $50,000, and the stolen alcohol inside the truck was estimated to be worth over $12,000. Burchel faces multiple preliminary felony theft charges, with final charges pending from the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office.
