The data is reported by suppliers and manufacturers, and currently, only three masks have earned this label. If N95 masks are unavailable and you don’t work in a high-risk setting, these masks are a good alternative.
The workplace standard, ASTM F3502-21, is not the only ASTM standard governing masks. Other masks may have labels like “ASTM Level 3,” referring to different standards for medical masks. For lower-risk masks for office use, look for the Workplace Performance labels.
For N95 respirator masks, the CDC has a list of approved options, but availability can vary. Kimberly-Clark offers N95 respirators suitable for non-medical use, with a sturdy seal and affordable pricing. Additionally, 3M and Honeywell provide N95 respirators with good filtration and sealing capabilities.

If masks are unavailable, consider Project N95, a nonprofit that connects PPE supplies with those in need. The organization offers access to vetted and protective masks from third-party websites.
