Protesters at Columbia University Occupy Administrative Building in Opposition to Israel

A group of protesters at Columbia University took control of an administrative building in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Video footage shared on social media showed the protesters bringing barricades into Hamilton Hall, an academic building on the campus. The group Within Our Lifetime (WOL) Palestine called for protection of the encampment in a Telegram channel, urging supporters to defend it after threats from the administration.

Additional videos showed protesters smashing glass doors, hanging pro-Palestinian posters, and chanting slogans in support of Palestine. The protesters also hung a banner reading “Intifada” from the windows of the building. This action followed the university’s decision to suspend students who had been involved in the encampment and their refusal to comply with an order to leave by a certain time.

The initial encampment, which began on April 17, was removed by the university but later returned. Similar protests have taken place at other universities, including UCLA, Yale, Harvard, George Washington, and MIT. Breitbart News reached out to Columbia University for a response but had not received one at the time of publication.
