Boxing legend Mike Tyson experienced a health scare during his flight to Los Angeles before his upcoming match with Jake Paul.
According to Tyson’s representatives, he suffered from a sudden flare-up of an ulcer, causing nausea and dizziness before landing, the New York Post reported.
“Thankfully, Mr. Tyson is doing great,” his representatives reassured. “He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”
The delay of Tyson’s flight was attributed to an air-conditioning issue rather than his medical condition, although it was reported that about 25 minutes of the delay was related to his health emergency.
Passengers revealed that crew members sought a doctor’s assistance for Tyson about 30 minutes before landing, causing a brief hold-up in disembarkation.
The last public fight Tyson engaged in was an exhibition match in 2020, resulting in a draw against Roy Jones Jr. His last official bout was in 2005.
Tyson recently made light of Paul’s chances against him, citing Paul’s inability to knock out certain opponents.
“He couldn’t even knock out [Nate] Diaz,” Tyson remarked. “Diaz is 40 pounds. He’s going to knock me out? Anderson Silva. He couldn’t even knock out the little guys, how’s he going to knock me out? .. He never knocked out a real man, come on. He didn’t knock out Tommy Fury. I’m going to f–k Jake up.”
Tyson also mentioned his abstinence from sex and marijuana during his training for the fight.
In response, Jake Paul expressed confidence in defeating Tyson, asserting that one of them must be defeated in their upcoming bout.
