Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) urged people to vote against President Joe Biden in the upcoming 2024 presidential election due to his stance on the ongoing war in Gaza and his support for Israel.
During her speech, Tlaib remarked that voters would “not gonna forget in November,” alluding to the presidential election.
“I don’t need to tell you that you’re on the right side,” Tlaib addressed the audience. “I don’t need to. But, I’ll be damned if I wait ten years before they apologize to all of you for doing what was right at this moment.”
Tlaib criticized the U.S. government for sending “billions of dollars” annually to Israel, which she referred to as having an “apartheid government.”
Tlaib’s remarks were directed at Biden and the lawmakers who criticized anti-Israel protests and encampments on college and university campuses in April and May.
“It is cowardly,” Tlaib commented. “But, we’re not gonna forget in November, are we? The International Court of Justice just ruled that the Israeli government must stop its invasion of Rafah. But, President Biden says what’s happening in Gaza is not a genocide. Where’s your red line, President Biden?”
This is not the first instance where Tlaib has encouraged voters to oppose Biden. In February, she urged Michigan voters to vote “uncommitted” in the state’s primary election, as reported by NBC News.
Tlaib has also previously refused to state whether she would vote for Biden, while advising voters to consider the “whole ballot,” according to Politico.
