BOONE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — The grandparents of 14-year-old Kyneddi Miller, a girl from Boone County, West Virginia, who was discovered dead in a bathroom in an “emaciated to a skeletal state,” are facing charges related to her death.

Donna Sue Stone, 76, and Jerry Carter Stone, 75, are charged with child neglect resulting in death. They are detained on a $25,000 property or 10% cash bond.

Her mother, Julie Miller, had waived her preliminary hearing in April. She was arrested after her teen daughter, identified by a family member as 14-year-old Kyneddi Miller, was found deceased in a bathroom in a severely emaciated state, as per a criminal complaint.

The complaint mentioned that Kyneddi had only been outside twice in four years and had not attended school since 2019 or 2020.

Kyneddi’s “clear and distinct physical problems” indicated that her mother had not sought help for her in at least four years, leading to her death, according to the complaint.

Julie Miller is also charged with child neglect resulting in death. She is held at the Southwestern Regional Jail under a $250,000 bond.

Neighbors told WOWK anonymously that they were unaware of the situation’s severity, although they had seen state police conducting wellness checks.

They mentioned knowing the grandparents, who were always respected in the community. They did not suspect any neglect or abuse within the household and believed the weight loss happened suddenly, thinking the family was planning to seek help for her.

WOWK previously spoke with the family, who requested privacy and prayers during this difficult period.
