An armed robbery suspect in Kenner, Louisiana, was fatally shot on Sunday after he opened fire and wounded three police officers. The suspect, 31-year-old Matthew Lathers, was hiding in a house in Jefferson Parish and was wanted for a robbery that took place on Thursday. Lathers mistakenly shot and injured two individuals outside the house, thinking they were police officers.

A SWAT Team surrounded the house and deployed a robot to locate Lathers. When the robot malfunctioned, three SWAT officers went inside to fix it, and that’s when Lathers emerged with a rifle and shot the officers. One of the SWAT officers returned fire, but it’s unclear if Lathers was hit.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, and a sniper was able to fatally shoot Lathers. Two of the injured officers have been discharged from the hospital, while the third remains in stable condition.
