Veteran Bill Young Urges South Carolina Voters to Replace Nancy Mace in Congress

South Carolina’s veteran and first district congressional candidate, Bill Young, stated during an appearance on “Truth Voices Saturday” that South Carolinians should issue Rep. Nancy Mace a “pink slip” to reestablish order in the House. Young, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, aims to unseat Mace as the representative of South Carolina’s first congressional district.

Mace was among eight House Republicans who voted last year to remove McCarthy from his position as House leader. Following McCarthy’s removal, the House selected Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) as the new Speaker. Despite initially being seen as a steadfast conservative, Johnson later pursued omnibus spending bills contrary to conservative preferences, approved the reauthorization of a controversial spying program, and endorsed substantial aid packages to Ukraine.

During his interview, Young commented on the local reaction to Mace’s move to remove McCarthy, facilitating a bipartisan coalition government. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) even claimed effective Democratic control over the legislative body, stating, “Those are just the facts.”

Young conveyed that South Carolinians acknowledge that the removal of McCarthy, whether one likes him or not, led to a slippery slope, allowing Democrats to leverage control over the Republican Party. He criticized Mace for her role in initiating this chain of events and suggested that the solution would be her removal from office.

Young also pointed to Mace’s perceived ineffectiveness, noting her reactive stance rather than proactive measures, particularly concerning military and foreign policy issues. He argued that Mace is disconnected from her district and highlighted his potential contributions if elected.

In addition, Young remarked on Mace’s lack of tangible achievements, stating, “You have to judge a tree by the fruit it bears, not by the fruit it talks about. Nancy Mace talks a lot and accomplishes nothing, and she does the bare minimum.”
