Motion sickness while using your phone in a moving vehicle may soon be a thing of the past, thanks to Apple’s new software feature called Vehicle Motion Cues. This update is part of a larger release of new accessibility features on Apple devices.
Motion sickness occurs when you focus on something stable, like your phone, while your surroundings are in motion. To address this issue, Apple’s motion cues feature uses the sensors in your iPhone or iPad to detect the movements of the vehicle you’re in. It then displays small dots on the edges of your screen that move along with the car, helping to sync up your sight and sensation and prevent discomfort. Users can easily toggle this feature on and off in their device settings.
In addition to motion sickness reduction, Apple has introduced several other accessibility updates. Eye tracking is now available as an alternative method of device navigation, music haptics allow Deaf or hard of hearing individuals to feel vibrations while listening to music, and there are improved voice-control features and accessibility options across Apple’s devices.
