In Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri, detectives from the Sheriff’s Office were working to identify a deceased individual found in the Mississippi River who was initially thought to be a man wearing a bra. However, it was later determined that the person was Darris Moore, a 23-year-old trans woman named Darri.

Darri, known for her confidence and love for those around her, was remembered by childhood friend Izzy Baker, who is involved in LGBTQ advocacy groups. Seeking justice for Darri, Baker expressed the importance of finding out the circumstances surrounding her death.

Darri’s mother, Melinda Jones, described her daughter as a vibrant and lovable person. Jones is determined to find out the truth behind Darri’s tragic passing, as the cause of death remains unknown.

Authorities are still investigating the case, as a private pathologist is conducting further examinations to determine the cause of death. With no missing person’s report filed for Moore, detectives are seeking information from the public to piece together the events leading up to her death.

This tragedy comes not long after Darri’s brother, Makao Moore, was shot and killed in a mass shooting the year prior. As Darri’s loved ones wait for answers, they remember her fondly and honor her true identity.
