A devastating mass shooting occurred at a home in Florence, Kentucky, early Saturday morning, leaving four people dead and three others critically injured. The shooting took place during a birthday party for the 21-year-old son of the homeowner, who was also killed in the incident.
According to police, they responded to the scene at approximately 2:50 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found seven victims, including the four deceased and three critically injured individuals who were rushed to a hospital in Cincinnati.
The shooting suspect, a 20-year-old male, fled the scene and led police on a vehicle pursuit that ended when his car crashed into a ditch. The suspect had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police confirmed that the suspect acted alone and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, but authorities revealed that the suspect knew individuals at the party, although he had not been invited.
“It’s a very emotional time for everyone involved,” said Florence Police Chief Jeff Mallery. “Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the officers who responded to the scene.”
