A plane crash in Brazil’s northern Amazon state on Saturday resulted in the tragic deaths of 14 individuals, as reported by CNN Brasil. The incident occurred in the remote Barcelos province, approximately 400 kilometers from the state’s capital, Manaus. The aircraft was carrying 12 passengers and two crew members, all of whom tragically perished. The passengers were en route to a recreational fishing location and the crash was attributed to bad weather conditions, with heavy rain at the time of landing.

Barcelos’ mayor, Edson de Paula Rodrigues Mendes, confirmed the details of the incident involving a medium-sized aircraft. Reports indicated that there were United States citizens among the victims. This devastating crash comes just four months after another tragic accident in the Amazonian forest that claimed multiple lives, including a mother with young children.

The earlier crash involved a Cessna 206 aircraft transporting seven individuals from Araracuara to San Jose del Guaviare, which issued a Mayday alert due to engine failure. This is an ongoing and developing story, with updates to follow as more information becomes available.
